BITD II — Favorite Song…

We now begin our trek down memory lane — consider this our own little THS 88 version of VH1’s I Love the 80’s…  It gets a little tricky here, in that I will not personally post anything that I am not willing to share — I will however, post blogs submitted by members but reserve the right to personally comment or not as is the case with everyone.  Now that the rules are semi-in-place — here goes…

FAVORITE SONG OF THE 80’s

As I never got into metal and continue to have an overall low Country tolerance — which is just horrible considering I lived in Texas for 14 years and being there are only 2 types of music in Texas — Country and Western — JA !!  JA !!  (Saw that line a movie and love it !!!)  I have always leaned toward Pop / Top 40 and Classic Rock — but I digress a little…

My favorite song from the 80’s and still one of my all-time favorites is ….

REO Speedwagon’s

I Can’t Fight This Feeling

One of my favorite movie soundtracks of the 80’s is from Top Gun

OK — you’ve got mine — what’s yours ???

This topic is not about my music genre preference and your reflection of songs in my stated preferred genre, it is about what was your favorite song from Back in the Day — be it metal, punk, country, pop, classic rock, gospel, christian, R&B, early rap and hip hop — whatever — if it was your favorite song we’d like to know…  If you can’t break it down — give us your top 2-3-4 or 5…

BITD — In 1988 I wanted to be A…

Let’s think back for a moment way back to that rain soaked night back in May 1988 of what we thought we all would be doing at this point in our lives — sorta a "what I want to be when I grow up"…

Me:  I had and still have no idea…  Other than the running joke of running for POTUS (President of the United States — Secret Service jargon) in ’08, my first year of eligibility there was nothing…  Guess in the most general way it was go to college then go into some sort a business doing something and making lots of money…

Others had an idea and pursued and are presently in that or a related position:
Jason Dukes — was planning and is a pharmacist.
Toni Fazio — wanted and is a vet.
Philip Bergeron — was planning on being an accountant and is Deputy Tax Assessor for a school system — that’s accounting related…

They told us back in college to be prepared to change jobs or careers at least 8 times before you retire — so how goes it…

Basically asking the question of:

what you thought you’d be doing back in 1988
vs.
what you are currently doing.

When I updated the title to reflect BITD somehow the original blog got deleted…  I have reconstructed it to the main points based on memory…

Reread the whole site today…

Every single blog, posted comment — good and bad — read again by me, here at THS 88 on the Web, —  upon completion it can be said — there’s some good stuff hereaside from that brief period in February and March 2006 where I let my frustrations get the better of me and flow into my typings — and the comments reflect the disapproval of those instances — regardless, the majority of the blogs have actually been quite good…

As always, I yearn for more participation on the site, be it in the posting of comments or articles / blogs written by others posted to receive comment.  (for the latter the article needs to be e-mailed to me via kmax2k1@hotmail.com for posting — no editing of your piece… I promise — though, I will proof it for typos.)

Membership continues to grow with Classmates.com‘ies trickling in from cyberspace and names pop up at Reunion.com if nothing else it let’s us know The Lost and Semi-Lost  are beginning to think, reflect, and desire contact as we approach 20n08

Overall this whole adventure has been fruitful and I look forward to it continuing to reconnect old friends, providing information of interest to the greater group, entertaining the masses, and providing a conduit for a successful 20n08.

Lost, Semi-Lost, and Found

 WARNING:

The following blog may contain language and phrasing that could be construed as badgering, self-gratifying, tongue-in-cheek, obnoxious, annoying, informative, inspirational, insulting, self-serving, a clear-cut case of demonstrating absurdity by being absurd, or it could simply be considered absolutely or otherwise useless by those who need to "lighten-up a bit" — and is intended for the entertainment of our audience only…

Reader discretion is advised…

Friends, Romans, countrymen..  Lend me your ears..

WAIT !!!  This is the 21st Century Blogosphere not ancient Rome…

Let’s try this again…  Friends (though this could be a stretch), THS 88 Alums, Americans all…  Lend me your eyes and minds for a few…

As we continue our progression toward 20n08, we have roughly 20 percent E-penetration for a contact base.  Those who we have listed at THS 88 on the Web are hereby designated as FOUND…  Those with profiles at Classmates.com or Reunion.com who have yet to contact us will be designated Semi-Lost — this also refers to our invisible overly "shy" acquaintances who view from obscurity and are otherwise useless to the "Greater Group" — since — WE DON’T KNOW WHO YOU ARE !!!  and cannot check you off the list as a confirmed contact — OK — if it makes you feel better you can consider yourself Semi-Found…  And there are the LOST, those that we currently have no contact or information about — hopefully by continuing to add to the group, those additions will have additional contact information and we’ll get most if not everyone here.

As for the Semi-Lost at Classmates.com, I have sent them all messages via Classmates, but have yet to receive a response — perhaps they don’t want to contact ME !!!  Oh well — my paid 3 month time ends August 2nd.

The Classmates.com Semi-Lost Roster:
Mary Aleshire-Butler, Angela Basco, John Bryant, Dorina Deleery (oops — my bad — actually already found — Dodie Green), David Fountain (FOUND), Paula Gjesdal-Wilson, James Hale, Dempsey Hall, Denise Hearn-Frieman, Cholonda Holmes, Kristi Lawson (NEW – FOUND), Karen McGregor-Gipson, Lisa McQuire, Bob Miller, Victor Moore, Sandra Phillips-Seals, Steve Sheffer, and Justin Smith.

All of these listed have received at least one Classmates.com message.  If anyone would like for me to relay a message on their behalf — perhaps we can get an answer — you have until August 2.
The Reunion.com Semi-Lost Roster:
Sam (Sammy) Berry, Natessa "Tessie" now just "Tess" Bookout (NEW), Emile Canale, Scott Diel, Christie Dugger-Mitchell, Aundrae Gilbert, Carla McAlister-Smith, Kathy Morgan-Sihan (NEW), Andy Shaw, and Mike Walter.
Reunion.com hasn’t had a free trial, nor does it have a short term Premium membership — so if anyone out there is a Premium Member, please drop these folks a line regarding our little spot on the web.

Thanks.

To date the Classmates.com free trial and 3 month Membership have yielded 41.7 % of our membership roster — if you factor in the e-addresses that I obtained from Classmates (back in ’03 aka the original e-list) — it’s probably over 50 percent — and it also provided the intel on how to find a particular South Louisiana Veterinarian online…

Regardless, greatest thanks to those who have provided additional contacts:  Janet, Stephanie King, Michelle Zamanian-Millard, et al — you have made this the Official Web Spot of THS 88 regardless what others may say and again — Biggest THANKS

Keep those contacts coming — keep spreading the word — and let’s continue to grow…  Once here, participate however you like — post or not, correspond with members or not — we just want you here !!!
