Strum it up Jimmy…

Buffett that is…  Not French !!!

Nibblin’ on Sponge cake,
watchin’ the sun bake
All those damn Yankees beginning to melt
Shooting my 45, avoiding that big ass bee hive
Smell those shrimp
They’re beginning to boil…

Wastin’ away again in Tioga-Indian Ville
Searching for my long lost mates of old…
Some people claim that there’s no one to blame
But I know….  it’s not entirely my fault…

It’s THS 88 Reunion Season
Overall I have no reason
To explain why I blog mostly about me
Had hoped for much more about "We",
why nobody posts here I haven’t a clue…

I’ve long since worn out my welcome
Who knows what will become
But if there’s news you really need
it’ll be here for you to read
This monster of a web-site will continue to go on

Snackin’ on Cracklin’s

Yes indeed I am Packin’

All those visiting Yankees beginning to melt

I’ve got my 45, don’t ask me to shoot any bee hives

Smell those crawfish

They’re startin’ to boil…

Jogging in place…  Treading water…  Spinning our wheels…  Just waiting for the end to come…  Haven’t really experienced this since the last days of Quaker State — just going through the motions — but doing absolutely nothing….  There’s no reason to think or imagine that participation here will increase in anticipation of the "Reunion" nor that anyone will chose to share anything "Post-Reunion"…  I’ll take responsibility for probably the greatest agent of participation failure — including the E – List on the site — should have kept that separate and sent it out quarterly or so…

Essentially, what we have is what we have…  It is, what it is…  It was hoped in "The Vision" that this would have been a more participation
I look forward to reading from all of you — just comment to the postings or send me an e-mail direct and I will post a discussion so all our comments can be found in the same place.  Also if you have any ideas on how to enhance this spot for all of us let me know…  More will come — we’re just getting started.
And So it Begins…  November 28, 2005

— long story short, with Lacye’s help, I determined that a web site using MSN Spaces would provide so many more means of communication than an e-letter ever could.  It was / is a forum where ideas and thoughts could / can be posted by anyone in the group, as well as provide contact information for each member of THS 88.
The Vision…  March 4, 2006
but this only materialized twice or thrice…  Like I said — it has become what it has become…  I’ll continue to provide Reunion info as it becomes available both here @ THS 88 on the Web and in THS 88:  Briefs.  Also there will be "Post-Reunion" coverage of some sort and will continue to add names to the E-List as they become available or obtained at the Reunion, but essentially THS 88 on the Web, is coasting toward its end…

20n08: Travel info for our WAAAAYY Out of Towners…

The local airport, Alexandria International Airport (AEX) is currently serviced by 4 airlines.
American via American Eagle with connections through DFW (DFW)

Continental via Continental Express connecting through Houston Inter-Continental (IAH)

Delta via Atlantic Southeast Airlines through Atlanta (ATL)

Northwest via Northwest Airlink through Memphis (MEM)
For those who have been out of the local loop for a while…  AEX is located at England Airpark the former England Air Force Base.  Car rental and lodging all around the airport…  The current $30 million Dollar Terminal opened December 2 years ago — quite nice actually…

Shop all the travel sites for the best deals — CheapTickets.com, Travelocity.com, PriceLine.com, Orbitz.com, HotWire.com, and any others you can think of as well as the airlines listed above…

Another Note — Flying into AEX can be cheaper than flying into Shreveport or Monroe …

That’s your THS 88 on the Web local airline travel briefing…

20n08… What does it mean to you ???

I actually had thoughts on this blog about 2 weeks ago, but during the delay, my mind has intertwined so many thoughts that I cannot coherently type anything on the subject at hand…  What I do know is that during the life of this project, we know as THS 88 on the Web, is my sentiments over the 2 1/2 + years have done the roller coaster thing — up and down, beginning with really looking forward to I could walk away and not miss any or anyone at it, to back to the looking forward to it…

Maybe, I can type more on this topic later, but I would be interested in some of the thoughts of others…  Don’t worry, I’m not holding my breath…

With all that said — please RSVP ASAP , if you haven’t already, to tiogahigh1988@aol.com to let the Vigilance Committee know how many to expect for both the family festivities and main party.

Rising Gas Prices

David Vitter | U.S. Senate

Like him or not…  Senator Vitter has it right !!!  If he were a Democrat he’d have the juice of an enhanced resume !!!

Dear Friends,

The rising costs of energy and gas are at the center of most family dinner table discussions these days.

As families are talking about concrete ways to address the challenges of paying their cooling bills or putting gas in their cars, there is, unfortunately, a lot of hot air coming out of Washington on this topic.

The Democratic leadership in Congress refuses to take action to address these high prices.  I asked for consent in the Senate this month to move immediately to legislation to address energy prices, but the Democratic leadership objected and instead chose to move to a foreign aid bill.  And now they say we’ll leave for the August recess period one week early because supposedly all of our important work will be done!

We must open new areas to more domestic drilling so we can increase our supply of oil and natural gas.  I’ve offered legislation to do this.  My bill would allow new offshore drilling and allow the states that host it to share in the revenues, like we do in Louisiana.

But the Democratic leadership in the Senate refuses to allow debate on important measures like this – measures that a majority of the people in the country want us to pursue.  They would rather slow-walk this issue, promote sham legislation that won’t impact drilling at all, and stifle debate – all in the hopes of having a Democrat in the White House next year.

The American people can’t wait until next year to address this issue that hits us all in the pocketbook.  I’ll keep fighting in the Senate to promote common-sense measures that can reduce the pain we all feel at the pump, and I’ll be sure to keep you updated.

Sincerely,

Sen. David Vitter

The Vigilance Committee is coming to CenLA…

 Hey Kev

Can you send an all out "committee alert" ?

I need everyone who is planning to come to the committee meeting Saturday July 19th in the afternoon  to email me and let me know they are coming.  It will be in Pineville.

Email me at tiogahigh1988@aol.com

Thanks

For those new joining us…  The Vigilance Committee is the 20 Year REUNION Committee for 20n08

The RACE is on…

to find our peoples — Old Mates — the LOSTies

With just over 3 months to go and only 96 found of around 200 time is short…  So if you know of someone, live next to them, pass them at the office, get them here or at least to Jenn so they can prepare for 20n08

Other avenues of finding LOSTies is via siblings — relayed to me was Kenneth Sasser, brother of Candy for contact info — works or worked @ Rapides Regional…  Traci Wherle also works at Rapides Regional — Women’s Surgical Center — Dr. Rabie’s office (or at least that’s the intel I’ve received)

You can simply tell them to Google THS 88 on the Web and they’ll be right here…

Vigilance Committee meets in CENLA on July 20 to do the local planning and coordination so getting everyone found pronto would be helpful…  The Committee is requesting all submit to a head count for the mail event, October 25th, the night time party, via e-mail  tiogahigh1988@aol.com Party

If you’d like to meet with the committee in their local meeting contact el Presidente, Jenn, @ tiogahigh1988@aol.com or jbmax@aol.com

I’ve done pretty much all I can do here — 96 forms of contact in 2 1/2 years…  Let’s gets the peoples found…

Just a reminder:  Always remember your humble blogmaster has absolutely nothing to do with the plannings for 20n08

Time to catch up ….

Hope everyone had a great Independence Day…  232 years — more accomplishments and contributions to freedom in that time than any nation on the planet, including those who have histories going back "thousands of years"…

It’s been a bit since I typed here…  Combination of busy and lack of access to the internet @ the casa — the internet part should mostly be fixed as we have upgraded from dial-up to cable with a wireless router — now more than one can be on-line at the time…  Anyway — I’ll sectionalize this blog and briefly cover several topics and that will be that…
Wrapped up my first case…  This turned into quite an adventure…  Sunday prior to last week, "mommy dearest" was messing around on my laptop retrieving case info for another account and merged that info with my current case wiping out my non-submitted entries for Alexandria, Lafayette, and Baton Rouge — all electronic signatures and policy info, sans dental dependent info — GONE !!!

So it was decided to make additional trips to those locations to get the signatures et al we needed and this is where the adventure begins…  Wednesday — Lake Charles and Sulphur locations to visit — finish early swing by Lafayette and get that corrected — sounded good — in practice it seemed good — in reality, it was stage 2 of the adventure…  Lake Charles and Sulphur done without incident, so it’s on to Lafayette — stop for gas at RaceTrack pull out of parking lot and car (1995 Lincoln Town car with 216,000+ miles on it dies in the street and will not restart…  A couple of Mexicans stop to help, one says he’s a mechanic — thinks it’s corroded battery cable — scrapes it — car starts — pull over to vacant parking lot so he can do something else and car won’t start — after a few minutes car starts and we move on to our destination and end up returning home with out further incident…

Thursday — can you say — "Why you so stupid to try trip in car that died yesterday ???"  That’s what happened — supposed to have 2 stops in Baton Rouge…  On way down car died briefly at the US 71 US 190 stop light (for those outside our region, they’re replacing a bridge and there’s a 2 minute signal to control traffic there)  Got car started and on to 1st location…  Got the signatures and prints needed at 1st location — loaded up the car to go to lunch at some hole-in-the wall buffet place downtown and car no start…  Tried over and over but no start…  Went next door and had lunch — pretty good actually — came back to car to start — not happening…  Got call from "Fearless Leader" aka District Manager who was in New Roads with her latest flunky working a case — they came to our rescue and brought us home — we did try one more attempt to crank car but didn’t work — left car would try to retrieve in some fashion Saturday…  What was thought to be a rescue straight back to CENLA turned into a seafood shopping excursion to Lafayette with a Cracklin’ stop up 49…  Got home about 7…  Car not starting began around 11 — I was seriously considering making it an Enterprise day — they pick you up after all…

Tried to wrap up the case from the office on Friday — ended up having to do the dental submissions on Monday as anyone who knew anything was gone for the day by the time we got to getting ready to submit…

Saturday…  Traveling down beautiful Hwy 71 and I get a St. Landry Parish blue light special — "Were you aware that you were speeding ???" — like I was endangering the public — only you and me on the road and you were going the opposite direction…  End of month it was gonna happen…  Still haven’t called to see what kind of fine is before me…  OK — made it to Baton Rouge — wrapped up stop #2, grabbed some lunch and over to where the car is…  Hooked up the jumper cables and on the 3 try car starts and continues to run — so off we go — come to intersection of Perkins and Essen and BAM !!! — 2 cars get in accident — I was slowing to a stop or had just come to a stop and look up and see a graphite Honda falling to the ground…  I was a good citizen and dialed 911 on the cell — but could not stop (others were assisting anyway) and the car I was trailing had the potential of dying at any time…  Make it to I-10 started heading west and the bottom falls out of the clouds — one lane is closed — traffic is at a crawl (again this car could die at any time) — turns out an additional lane was closed due to a low hanging limb…  Anyway we creep along and car continues to run…  We had previously decided to take 190 to Lafayette and come up 49 as there is a shoulder to pull off on if car did indeed die…  Car made it home and 10 minutes or so after arrival, I gave it a crank, it did its rough run, just like it would before it would die — at least its home…  Now all we have to do is get Hartley (neighbor who had previously diagnosed this problem — to fix it)…

That takes care of the work portion of our blog…

The Supremes Rule:

A victory for the 2nd Amendment in the Heller case although by the slimmest of margins (5-4) this is as the late Charlton Heston declared America’s First Freedom, without the rights granted by the 2nd Amendment, Free Speech, Free Press, Free Expression of Religion cannot be guaranteed or defended…  There are those who will say the armed citizenry of the US cannot stand up against the US military — strange thing is these are the same people who say we are losing in Iraq…  This should have been a 9-0 decision — …the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.  This is the only time in the "Bill of Rights" where the phrase "right of the people" appears…  With a 5-4 decision, look carefully who you vote for President and US Senate this year…  Also important to note, the day following the ruling 82 percent of the people supported the decision in a CNN poll yet only 55 percent of the Justices — hmmmmmm….

Also ruled was the overturning of the Louisiana Death Penalty for Child Rapists — Unconstitutional — cruel and unusual punishment…  Coming out after this decision and how it got missed a complete mystery — the United States Congress in 2006 added Child Rape as a death penalty offense to the Uniformed Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) — oops…  How did the lawyers for Louisiana miss that one…

Vigilance Committee Coming to CENLA:  Unless there has been a change in plans that I have not been made aware of, Jenn and the Reunion Committee are set to meet with local counterparts, Sunday, July 13 and some location, to plan the local side of the Reunion…  Contact Jenn with any questions or if you would like to participate via jbmax@aol.com or tiogahigh1988@aol.com …  Also, if Lynnette is there will somebody get that nuts E-address so I can add it to the site…  If anyone is brave enough to attend and take a digital camera, I’ll post the photos — as I’m not gonna be there, don’t want nothin’ to do with no plannin’…  I report — you decide…
UPDATE:  Vigilance Committee to meet in CENLA Sunday, July 20…  Further details as they become available…
I think that wraps up the last few weeks…  Any ideas for a participatory blog, let me know — perhaps they won’t ignore you and yours as the do me…
