I know, this is a day early for the September issue, but magazines and real newsletters do it all the time. Done it before, doing it again.
About that Harvey
Over 50 inches of rain in greater Houston, flooding not seen since last August in Southeast Louisiana
Classmates in greater Houston: Stephanie Meade (Conroe), Della aka DeeDee LaCroix (Houston), Shelli Chance Alexander (Houston), Jay and Marye Nickens (Houston), and Aundrae aka Tick aka Toby Gilbert (Houston).
SMeadely was high and dry.
Della and Shelli stayed dry and with power but it got dicey with water intrusion into their ‘hoods.
No word on the Nickens’ or Mr. Gilbert.
Would like to post some first hand accounts, if and when you’ve got the time.
The pics and video of I-10 underwater Tuesday in Beaumont beyond belief.
While back in CenLA little to nothing from what I can tell, and of course we welcome reports to the contrary. A frontal system pushed in a dry line with Tropical Depression Harvey that seemed to sheer off much of the rain Wednesday from Alexandria/Pineville. This is not to say areas didn’t get rain. Vernon Parish, Leesville, Deridder, Many, and all got slammed with mega rains and water releases from Vernon and Anacoco lakes, and down stream with release of water from Toledo Bend. No reports on those areas. Janet Butler Raines lives in the Leesville area, but I don’t know if she was at home as she was Carnival Cruisin’ for 7 days then extended to 9 days due to Harvey. Reports from there, when available also appreciated.
Here at the casa, I prepared for the rain by mowing last Friday, and battened down that hatches, but other than rain since Saturday, nothing.
