September 2017: Harvey trumps the usual…

I know, this is a day early for the September issue, but magazines and real newsletters do it all the time.  Done it before, doing it again.

About that Harvey

Over 50 inches of rain in greater Houston, flooding not seen since last August in Southeast Louisiana

Classmates in greater Houston:  Stephanie Meade (Conroe), Della aka DeeDee LaCroix (Houston), Shelli Chance Alexander (Houston), Jay and Marye Nickens (Houston), and Aundrae aka Tick aka Toby Gilbert (Houston).

SMeadely was high and dry.

Della and Shelli stayed dry and with power but it got dicey with water intrusion into their ‘hoods.

No word on the Nickens’ or Mr. Gilbert.

Would like to post some first hand accounts, if and when you’ve got the time.

The pics and video of I-10 underwater Tuesday in Beaumont beyond belief.

While back in CenLA little to nothing from what I can tell, and of course we welcome reports to the contrary.  A frontal system pushed in a dry line with Tropical Depression Harvey that seemed to sheer off much of the rain Wednesday from Alexandria/Pineville.  This is not to say areas didn’t get rain.  Vernon Parish, Leesville, Deridder, Many, and all got slammed with mega rains and water releases from Vernon and Anacoco lakes, and down stream with release of water from Toledo Bend.  No reports on those areas.  Janet Butler Raines lives in the Leesville area, but I don’t know if she was at home as she was Carnival Cruisin’ for 7 days then extended to 9 days due to Harvey.  Reports from there, when available also appreciated.

Here at the casa, I prepared for the rain by mowing last Friday, and battened down that hatches, but other than rain since Saturday, nothing.

Other News of interest:

El Presidente, Jennifer Maxwell-LeBleu is now VP of Mortgage at Red River Bank, Bossier City.

LSU vs. BYU moved from Houston’s NRG Stadium to Mercedes Benz Superdome, Advocare College Football Kick-off, Saturday, 8:30 PM CDT, on ESPN.

ESPN bringing Hank Williams Jr. back for the Monday Night Anthem.  Saints and Vikings 6:10 PM, Monday, September 11.

Astros and Rangers played a series at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg — that’s Florida, not Russia — this week.  Astros return home to Minute Maid Park this weekend.

Doug Gann on the radio with ASH Trojan football on his radio home 104.3 FM “The Bridge”.  This week’s game has been moved to Saturday.  He also has a regularly scheduled weekend show.

THS Football had been scheduled as a road game, but game has been moved to due to questionable field conditions, to “The Reservation”

Had a surge of views to THS 88 on the Web following posting of notice Gone But Not Forgotten, if I missed anyone, let me know.  To be posted to the main blog, there should be a THS 88 connection.

August 2017 — Kiddies Trumpin’ back to school

Hi everyone, Clint Smith here with Thunder Ranch….  OK not Thunder Ranch, Kev, THS 88 on the Web guru — been watching a few vids of Thunder Ranch lately.  Thunder Ranch is a Firearms training center located just north of Lakeview, Oregon.  I completed Defensive Handgun I back in 1996 when they were located in Mountain Home Texas.  On-line training available as well as insights.  Could you see Suzy Sanderson Eddleston doing Combat Shotgun ????

Free Commercial over — Now on to our regular show…

Just giving those joining us late, a quick summary of THS 88 on the Web.

The whole thing began starting in 2003 while I was in the midst of building an e-mail list for THS 88 – there had been desires for a 15 year reunion and that would have been the year – gathered about 15 e-addresses.  As time passed into 2005, I once again got on the build the e-list for the potential 20 in 2008.  Came across MS Spaces (Microsoft’s attempt at social media competing with the big boy at the time MySpace and infant FaceBook).  With the help of “My Fair Lady and favorite Martini” (Lacye Guilliard Martini) I cranked up the incarnation of THS 88 on the Web, that was November 2005.  Now nearly 12 years later, with 510 blogs (with this one) and 10-ish years of content (site went on hiatus after November 2013 with minimal updates) it lives for your enjoyment, or not.  Was some good stuff in those early days – some content was lost when MicroSoft ditched Spaces and allowed transfer to WordPress, but it lives, none the less.

Access the early stuff with CategoryThe Beginnings — to the right.

Back to the present.

No news on 30 year reunion aka 30n18, perhaps I’ll run poll a poll with options, that won’t gather responses, in the future.

Or any latter part and would have beeb THS88Revived a section that was lost on the switch to WordPress, Gone but Not Forgotten.  I’m including THS 88, Faculty and Administration, Spouses of, Parents of, Siblings of, and Friends of.
My definition of THS 88 is a little broad, if you were there with us most of the way through our educational journey, were with us for any time at THS, but graduated elsewhere, you’re still with us, moving and changing schools wasn’t your choice.  This blog and notices can be accessed by clicking Gone but Not Forgotten in the Categories section to the right.

This was entirely from memory at first, but once it auto-posted to my personal FaceBook, I received notices from quite a few that have never even acknowledged this site’s existence, I have added accordingly.

Post your add to comments either at THS 88 on the Web or wherever you may see it, I won’t necessarily reply, but your loved one will be added shortly after I become aware.

Rapides schools back in session Aug 16, Grant the next week – summer vacation is almost over kiddies.  And soon comes FOOTBALL !!!  LSU September 2nd vs. BYU, NFL regular season kicks off September 7th in Foxborough – seems Gillette Stadium doesn’t have a place for that Fifth Bowl Banner – watch to see where they put it.

Frightening news, Laura Ann Miller of THS 87 is back in CenLA.  There goes the neighborhood.  Welcome Home, may not have been preferred option, trust me, I know, but it’s not so bad.

On a happier note some of you are getting older – The Birthdays — this list is old, from 2012 so if there’s an add, let me know.
