THS 88: September 2013 — Just over 1 month to go…

Hello Kiddies welcome to another exciting edition of the one and only, longest running, E-Letter for THS 88 out there anywhere…  Breaking this out a little early to avoid the holiday rush…

 

“The 25” aka “End of the 80’s” aka “Combined 25ish Reunion for THS 87, 88, & 89” details as I know them. 

Homecoming weekend October 4th and 5th.

• Homecoming Game — Friday, October 4th at 7 PM at “The Reservation” — New artificial turf is ready for the season — it looks great…
• Family Day Picnic — Tentatively Scheduled for Buhlow Rec Area, Saturday, October 5, 11 – 2ish — no details at this time — no use planning if Reunion is not a go.
• Adult Party — Saturday, October 5, 7:30 PM, Country Inn & Suites (Pineville Convention Center) — Tickets required — $25 single; $40 Couples.

Alumni from THS 87, 88, and 89, as well as faculty from those years invited and welcome to attend, but you need a ticket for the party.

Deadline for Tickets is September 20, 2013.

Tickets pay for ballroom, DJ, and Food — as this is Pineville it will be BYOB.

Just me section — I am not involved in any of the planning — I do relay communications or anything I discover relevant, but for the most part out of the loop.  No idea of number of attendees required to break even, tickets purchased, or status at this date — any info I receive will be at least added to the posts at THS 88 on the Web.

Attendance and other communications can be posted to THS 88 on the Web or return e-mailed to me and I will relay.

Other news of relevance or not…

End of 1st week of next month, I will have become 100 percent owner of the first car I have actually purchased. 

In the words of of that great poet Hank — Williams Jr. — that is — ARE  YOU  READY  FOR  SOME  FOOTBALL ????

LSU vs. TCU — Saturday, October 31, 2013 from the Jerry Dome aka Cowboys Stadium, now AT&T Stadium, 8 PM CDT on ESPN.  We get our first glimpse of the new Cam Cameron Offense — let’s air it out and stun the world…

Saints open against the Falcons in the Dome, Sunday, September 7.  Wonder is Sean Payton is going to use a variation on a conversation between Gene Hackman and Keith David in “The Quick and the Dead” when Hackman determines that David is the gunslinger hired by his town’s residents to kill him — “as soon as that ball kicks off, I’m going to make an example of you”…

Not part of the committee nor considered a host — just the guy with the E-Letter and largest E-mail list.  Just a reminder that Combined 25ish Year Reunion for THS 87, 88, and 89 is fast approaching — Homecoming weekend, October 4 and 5.

 

For those not following on Facebook, classmates.com, schoolfeed.com, alumniclass.com/tioga the latest announcements as to costs, location, events, who to pay, etc.

Please join us for a night of dancing, celebrating and simply reuniting with our high school classmates and friends. Please send invites to anyone on your friends list from the above classes that I may not have on my list.

We have set the price of tickets as $25 a person or $40 a couple. This will cover the ball room, DJ, and food.

THS 88: August 2013 — Approaching 60 days…

Hi All,

 

Had a great weekend visiting my Texas Family in the DFW Metroplex last weekend.  Haven’t been there in 11 years…  Saw my lovely daughter and her son (inside joke) as well as my best friend and her other daughter and her son.  First solo, long road trip in the Maxima — I like this car, and almost paid for.  Ventured out to see how areas had changed since my departure:

• Visited Courtesy Nissan in Richardson, my first Car sales job, favorite location of the 3.  Only 4 or 5 people remain since I was there.  Dealership totally remodeled on the interior — full lot — Nissan added like 7 models since I sold them.
• Experienced the High 5 — US 75 / 635 Interchange — wonderful upgrade
• Then there was venturing west of 75 (Central Expressway) and 635 — what a freakin’ mess.  Last exit I saw before Beltline in Irving was for the North Dallas Tollway — did not see Midway, Marsh, Webb Chapel, Josey, etc — OK I saw the exits for 35, but what a mess.  I used to live on and just off Marsh.
• Had my first In and Out Burger Experience — pretty good burger — Animal Style…
• Brought mom back some Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper — Alexandria Coca Cola, our local Dr. Pepper Bottler, does not market the product here — she’s happy.

Well we all know you don’t read this thing for stuff about me — actually, I don’t even know if that many (over 12) actually read this thing, but I do know, I like drawing you to the web site — tricky me…

 

OK, now the real stuff — Only 63 or 64 days until “The 25” for THS 88 or the gathering known as “THS End of the 80’s” or “25ish Reunion for THS 87, 88, and 89”.  Country Inns & Suites, Pineville, October 5th.  This is Homecoming 2013 weekend — game on October 4.  Tigers and Saints both on the road this weekend.  The announcement and all from last month…

Scheduled for Homecoming weekend October 4th and 5th.

• October 4th — Homecoming game.
• October 5th — Family day at Buhlow rec area late morning to early afternoon.  Suggested pot luck — with each participating class being responsible for part of the meal.  (No further info here)
• October 5th — Main event party, Country Inn & Suites, Pineville 7:30 pm

New info and suggestion since last month’s E-Letter.

• Extend invites to Teachers from BITD (Back in the Day).
