December 2018: Out Trumps another year…

Only 20 shopping days until Christmas, if you count today, if not it’s 19, but alas it’s on with the show.

A little later than unusual but pretty safe to say, you didn’t miss anything.

In the news:

In case you didn’t notice, November 28th represented 13 years of THS 88 on the Web.

THS defeated Benton to advance to the second round of the LHSAA Class 4-A playoffs and hosted #1 Edna Karr, and that was the season.

LSU showed offensive ineptitude against Bama, once again, then lost to Texas A&M in a 7 OT thriller, don’t get anyone who watched started on how the game should have never gone to OT1.  Anyway LSU (9-3) vs. undefeated University of Central Florida in the Fiesta Bowl New Year’s Day.

College Football Playoffs Semi-Finals are December 29th with Alabama vs. Oklahoma and Clemson vs. Notre Dame.  Finals to be Monday, January 7.

Saints ended their 10 game winning streak with a loss to the Cowpokes of Dallas.  Saints now 10-2, second seed in the NFC, 2 games ahead of Chicago for the 3rd seed, and 4 games ahead of Carolina in the Division — 1 Saints win or Carolina loss and the Division is ours.  As currently stands Rams at 11-1 are the #1 seed, they do play in Chicago this weekend, Saints hold the tie-breaker if both finish with identical records.  But as of now The Road to the Super Bowl for the NFC runs through sunny LA.  Also to note the last time a Saints double digit win streak was ended, by Dallas coincidently, the Saints won the Super Bowl.

Alexandria has a new Mayor after 12 years, former State Representative Jeff Hall, was sworn in Monday, December 3.

Holiday News:

Pineville’s Night Time Christmas parade has been rescheduled from this Friday, December 7 to Monday, December 10th due to weather — a storm’s a’comin’ Friday into Saturday.

Alexandria’s Christmas Parade is Sunday, December 9, 2018.
