2007 is upon us…

 Happy New Year
 Count Down    2007    Noisemaker 1
 Noisemaker 2                Noisemaker 3

Year of the Class of ’07…  19 years

Most of us had just gotten or were in the process of getting our Class Rings back then…  Like most, mine had an Indian on one side, but mine was different on the flip side — unlike others who chose decor for sports, club/organization, hobby, etc., mine had a sailboat on the ocean with a sunrise peeking over the horizon and through the clouds with the words "Today’s Dreams are Tomorrow’s Future"…  Kinda profound for a young skull full of mush to put on a Class Ring…  What was I thinking ???

Who would have thought back then, that we as a class would be reunited 17 years later in cyberspace — heck, Al Gore hadn’t even invented it yet — Thanks Al, you did good !!!

Even with those early days of on-line services, I never would have thought of creating this thing…  True, I created a home page on CompuServe in the mid-90’s, but never really did anything with it — just toying around…  Remember the old on-line service providers — CompuServe, AOL, MSN, and Prodigy — I actually a paid membership at all bout AOL at one time or the other…

Aside from my disdain for AOL — who gobbled up CompuServe and spit it out, it was AOL Instant Messenger that provided the back and forth with Mrs. Martini that helped determine the format for this endeavor…  Prior to that I had thought of a monthly or so E-letter — now that would have been a @#$%#…  I think I made the right choice…

Since last January’s New Year blog (it was pretty good by the way), we’ve seen growth of 100 percent or better, as there were 32 or 33 confirmed contacts at that time now over 70.  There is still work to be done to reach everyone of THS 88181 Graduated that night after the brief monsoon, but the figure for those there with us most of the way (Peabody, Private School, moved away, etc.) is probably closer to 200…  70+ accounted for with 6 who have passed away puts us around the 38 to 40 percent market penetration, so there’s still work to be done…

I have for some insane reason signed up for 1 year @ Classmates.com beginning December 28 and have already snagged one new member, Lil’ Errol Wilson (E-address listed in THS 88 Addresses and small blurb at the other site); got a message read notice on Dempsey Hall (have since received e-address — add one Mr. Hall to the roster) and Justin Smith responded but status is Pending (problem with E-address provided), so Justin if you’re reading this e-mail me direct via kmax2k1@hotmail.com.  I have sent messages to everyone listed @ Classmates to join us here at THS 88 on the Web….  I’m hoping of the 12 Semi-LOST souls there we’ll get 6 soon and perhaps more as they join in the coming year…

I also took advantage of 3 Free Days at Reunion.com…  Only had to provide 20 e-mail addresses — they say sometimes– it’s easier to ask for forgiveness than permission — in this case my intent was genuine and for member growth, so please ignore the Reunion.com invitations some of you will receive as that service is for the most part useless…  As per my usual, I sent messages to all those not @ THS 88 on the Web to join us…  I would love to get those 10 on board…  We shall see…

Perhaps we can reach the 100 mark in the next few weeks, I’d really be pleased…  But your help is required for continued growth and getting everyone here…

Resolutions for 2007:
In life I usually don’t bother, but I’ll give a few as they pertain to THS 88 on the Web
  1. I will continue to provide blogs and THS 88: Briefs of relevance to all via current methods.  I may cut back on the frequency of new blogs, but that is to be determined…
  2. I’ll try not to let lack of participation affect my blogs or Briefs by doing blogs on subjects I am interested in regardless of whether anyone else is.
  3. Continue to provide this conduit of communication with the highest standards.
  4. Continue to grow the site through increased membership and content.
  5. Continue to encourage and promote participation in a "kinder and gentler" manner…
There are other things I could type, but would be redundant…  Blog 2006 has Arrived… (Jan 2006) still very much valid — give it a read or re-read and let’s continue to grow in ’07…  Actually let’s go a little further — if you haven’t read the whole site give it a whirl — there’s a lot of good stuff at THS 88 on the Web — and some your unique input would only enhance (the Back in the Day series, Monica & Laura Pick the Topic, 1st Year Favs, and the many individual blogs)…  There are a few where the words are true but the delivery is suspect, try to read those without emotion and you’ll be fine — if not read it again later for meaning…

2006 overall wasn’t too bad for me — some things could have gone better, I could have done more, but I’d say it was better than some of the previous…  To wrap this up I’ll use the last 3 paragraphs of 2006 Has Arrived

Another item: If anyone wants to write or author a piece for discussion (Thanks Patricia, Monica, and Jenn) — just send it to me and I’ll post it and send out notice of its posting — giving credit to the original author… This is "OUR" site — just consider me the managing editor, at least for now…

Last but not least a welcome to our new arrivals: Errol Wilson, Dempsey Hall, Justin Smith (E-address Pending), and hopefully soon some of the others invited via Classmates or Reunion… It’s good to have you here and wouldn’t be complete without ya !!! Their correct and valid e-addresses are posted under THS 88 Addresses.  Remember if you have contact with any of our old mates, whether it be personal, phone, e-mail, snail mail, mutual acquaintance, whatever — try to get an e-address so we can continue to grow this list and site… You can even tell them the easy to remember TiogaHigh1988.com

For those of you who may be exercising your elbows this New Year’s Eve:
Have a designated driver, take a cab, get a room,
whatever…
Just be safe and we’ll see you all at
20n08

Thanks for all your help and support, I look to reading more from all of you in the future… and for all a very

Happy and Prosperous 2007…

Saddam is DEAD !!!

No matter what your opinion may be of the War on Terror in Iraq — I happen to believe it was right and still is — mistakes have been made in the post major hostilities phase, but what happened Friday night USA time and Saturday A.M. Iraq time, couldn’t have happened to a more deserving despot…  Long overdue and quick…  Could have saved himself a lot of trouble if he had just kept his mouth shut when the Marines were about to blow up his spider hole…

That’s the quickest execution I’ve seen in my life aside from George Lott in Texas — he shot and killed some attorneys in the Tarrant County Courthouse in the early 90’s — it was like 6 months and needle time in Huntsville…

Oh when the SAINTS….

come marchin’ in….  Oh when
the SAINTS come marchin’ in….

With a victory 30 – 7 victory over
the Giants Sunday and the Eagles victory over the Cowboys on Christmas Day —
The Saints have clinched the second seed in the NFC earning a first round
Bye…

The offense recovered from its
lethargic performance against Washington with Reggie Bush and Deuce McAlister
leading the way, each with over 100 yards rushing and rushing TDs for
each…  After some early drops, Drew Brees made some big throws and the
game quickly turned to the Saints favor…  That coach Sean Payton can call
a game…

The Giants were pathetic — in one
series 2 personal foul penalties on offensive linemen…  Tom Coughlin is
toast and will be fired at the end of the season — the team has no
discipline…

But the good news is the Saints even
though last week they "backed into the playoffs" according to the talking heads,
put the beat down on the Giants to without a doubt state — WE BELONG in da
Playoffs !!!!

Christmas x2…

Seasons Greetings           Tree              Stocking            3D Santa

Who would have thought we’d make 2 Christmases — with me in charge and total control ???  Certainly not me — I’m a starter and an implementer — take an idea from concept to implementation then I’m off and ready for the next challenge or adventure — only drawback is someone else "who always knows better" will generally utilize their superior intellect and screw up everything I started losing site of the grand vision et al…  Course we have been had a few close calls along the way for THS 88 on the Web:

    • I almost killed this thing 2 or 3 times with blogs trying to provoke / encourage participation…
    • Times in both April and October where I just about threw in the towel and shut the whole thing down.
    • and don’t forget (what am I saying ???  No one even noticed or asked when it happened) about the MSN shutdown of THS 88 on the Web just prior to the 1 Year Anniversary — THIS SITE WAS GONE — and all its content, the blogs, the E-List — that was one year’s worth of work — thanks to both of you who noticed post-restoration !!!  Actually 3, but I told the 3rd when the crisis began…
Wish I had my Christmas e-mail from last year — it was good, and could have easily been modified and posted here and most of you would be none the wiser — only thing I have is the closing thought from that message — kinda Jerry Springer-esque — but we’ll close with that later…  In the meantime, always remember not to take anything you read here too seriously

For those members joining our festivities in 2006 celebrating your first Christmas here at THS 88 on the Web:

Welcome…  We’re glad you’re here

Why another Holiday Blog you ask — why not ???  As far as I’m concerned, it’s an honor to wish Happiest of Holidays to all…  After all, who would have thought or imagined that, I, "Mr. Nobody", Kevin Brunson, with my 3 votes for Senior Class President ( I actually have no idea how many votes there were — maybe I got 4 ), would have created this monstrosity that has brought so many together in such a short time…

My vision for this Holiday Blog is to provide the open canvas of a virtual giant Christmas Card per se for the entire group to express holiday sentiments…  Unlike a traditional Christmas Card being passed around with its limited space for 70 signatures plus one or two brief thoughts, we have unlimited space to express these Holiday well wishes, sentiments, etc., in the Comments

Now for few moments of reflection and site examination…
This time last year we had maybe 33 confirmed members as part of the festivities here at THS 88 on the Web…  Today that number is 70 confirmed shared contact…  I have a few others, but I have not either not received a response granting authorization to post an e-address or even if it is a valid e-address…  Others in the group have been in contact with some of our LOST mates but have chosen not to share e-addresses or an invite to the site.  As I have stated in the past, there are many ways to invite the LOST  to THS 88 on the Web — send them a copy of a THS 88:  Brief, use the Invite a Friend option here, refer them to TiogaHigh1988.com, have them e-mail me, or send me their e-address for an official invite at least then they can be checked off as being aware of these venues…

In the coming year we need to move beyond HS pettiness and work toward The Vision (March 2006) of this endeavor…  I have, how about you ???  For privacy’s sake I will not name names — some of you might be surprised — my opinions of the past were either wrong or have changed…  I will say however, that I’ve had my best communications with members I never would have guessed and virtually none or none at all with some of those I was sure to be excited and willing to embrace this project.

Do you realize that this is the school year of the Class of ’07 ???  That makes 19 years come May — does not seem that long ago — what have we accomplished ???  Where did we think we’d be at this point ???  I provided an avenue for that question with BITD:  In 1988 I Wanted to Be a…  We have read from many with their Where I’ve Been…  Where I Am… post-grad stories here and at the other sites, some members have provided me summaries via e-mail and those are most appreciated, while others have chosen to remain silent or just be horses’ @#$#!…

I really had no intention of getting into the Birthday Notification thing but sorta fell into it, when Suzy told me last year in an e-mail she was busy with work,  related holiday stuff, and her birthday — and knowing Jason‘s Birthday was the next week the announcements began along with the friendly and humorous e-card…  Then Steph King…  err…  Steph Mattison, sent me something for a birthday registry, then THS 88 @ Yahoo Groups was created and I set up the THS 88 Birthday Calendar @ Yahoo Groups beginning with birthdays I knew as well as those listed @ Reunion.com (back when you could actually get some information there).  Suffice to say, it has received positive response (haven’t received any negative) and so this will continue…

What sense of purpose do I get from all of this ???  I don’t know…  Tried figuring it out, but the best I can come up with is it was an idea whose time had come and that free Classmates.com trial offer of November 2005 was an opportunity that could not be allowed to go to waste, and thankfully, my taking advantage of it complete with the 12 or so E-mails I had already collected grew from a simple quest for an e-list to THS 88 on the Web

I never meant or intended for this site to be about me, nor was the intent in choosing the blog format for this venue to have the opening 3 blogs and let that be the site until 20n08 plans got into high gear with only the E-list updated until then…  Blog format was chosen to allow members to express thoughts and memories on various subjects in an organized and structured setting that is easy navigate and use.  At least the mechanics of the project have been successful…
I guess you could say my outlook for this site has become that of an Optimistic-Realist…  Optimistic in that a majority of members would get excited and participate freely at this venue; and a Realist, in knowing that for whatever reason, valid or not, that people will do and use only what they want to use, aka the e-list for communication with their preferred group, and just glean the blogs and briefs for information therein, and not give a second thought to the overall purpose of the site…  Remember The Vision

Some time ago I gave up hounding people to post to blogs — no more arm twisting, threatening to take the site private, etc. — besides being meaningless, what would it accomplish ???  Would opinion of me in the eyes of those not participating be improved ???  Most likely not…  If their opinion of me was a measuring stick of their participation…  you figure it out…

I will, however, occasionally ask for blog submissions from the group — I’ve gotten 2 and would like to see more — all this is voluntary — no coercion used — everyone is free to ignore me as is so often the case (I sent out over 30 getting to Re-know you e-mails and got 4 responses — 26+ without even a "drop dead" or "leave me alone" — I can handle and respect that)…  If there is a blog topic that I feel is relevant (family related, class leadership related, or something along the line of what i consider a touchy feely subject — which I don’t do well — AND you know that !!!) and I believe a particular individual would be the perfect author providing the insight needed for such a piece, I will offer the opportunity to write this blog on the suggested topic via personal E-mail (and I won’t tell anyone I asked you)– you can say "NO" — and I’ll either come up with something myself, come back to it later, or move on…  All contributions to this site are voluntary (and don’t bring up e-mails posted in the early days as those are part of the record and way in the past — so displeasure in regards to those postings is not considered relevant )…
Back to the Holiday stuff…

For those traveling this Holiday season I wish you safe travel and good times…  For our 2 members stationed overseas, James Coleman in Portugal, and Stephen Higuera on one of our Navy’s floating cities in the Med or Persian Gulf, stay safe and we hope to hear and read from you soon; and if all goes well see you at the 20n08 — and thanks for doing what you do…

For the rest of us on the home front — Have a Happy, Safe, and Enjoyable Holiday Season…

And now we close with that Jerry Springer-esque "Final Thought" (modified slightly for a second running)
May the continued gift of this Web Site and e-list in its second year and beyond, reunite old friends and bring us all closer together as we make our way to 20n08.

SAINTS lose but Win Division

Uninspired football is what I would call the Saints performance Sunday against the Redskins in a 16 – 10 loss.  The results were probably unavoidable coming off the emotional high from the Dallas victory but they did fight it out at the end driving 70 or so yards and having a 4th down potentially game winning TD pass knocked down with just over a minute to play….

With losses by both Carolina and Atlanta this weekend, though with Atlanta, the Saints held the tie-breaker, the Saints win the NFC South and are currently seeded 2nd if the play-offs were to begin next weekend…

Christmas Eve is a road trip to one of the Saints home-away-from-home venues of a year ago…  A meeting vs. the Giants in Giants Stadium…  The season closes New Year’s Eve in the Dome with Carolina…

CBSSportsline.com‘s headline pretty much says it all….

Seasons Greetings To & From THS 88

Happy Holidays

I hope this finds all doing well.  Kevin asked me to write a short note to everyone – although I do not know why.  He has done an amazing job of getting most of us back in touch. We will all be forever grateful.  Although I do not post much – I do read and enjoy hearing of everyone’s updates.

As I reflect back on your blogs, it has help me remember the good times.  The Beta club trips, softball games, the floats – good god – the floats, partys at Billy Boney’s, the football games, racing down Rigolette Rd  at 10:59 pm so not to  miss my 11 PM lame curfew, Jackson Street, and McDonalds after the games.

Now as my oldest child just came to me and told me she has her first junior high crush ( flashback to Brandon Marler and Benji Aaron lol) it has all come full circle.  Now – Lynette Bradley is molding my childrens’ minds at the local elementary – she is the favorite teacher at their school. We are the parents (scarey) and we are reliving our childhood experiences as our kids go through school.

…..and what incredible memories they are.  They are the foundation of "the good times".  We will always remember the days of youth and fun and all our childhood friends.

I truly miss all of you and so look forward to our 20 year reunion….

Have a wonderful holiday

The LOST Report: Dec 2006

Just a quick revisit to our never-ending search for LOST  THS 88’ers

To date we sit at 70 confirmed contacts with Classmates.com being the dominate force in compiling the listings.  Many thanks to those of you who have shared contact information and helped make this site a success…

Now the rundown of Semi-LOSTies  appearing @ Classmates.com.
Active / New / Received Messages                Presumed Lost — No Response or Activity
    Brad Bailey                                                    Mary Aleshire-Butler
    James Hale                                                    Angela Basco
    Dempsey Hall  (FOUND)                                Paula Gjesdal-Wilson
    Darius Hunter                                                 Cholonda Holmes
    Jason Lott   (New)                                           Lisa McQuire
    Lamarsha Meeks                                             Justin Smith  (Pending)
    Bob Miller
    Victor Moore
    Christina Murphy
    Edrick Pennywell  (New)
    Sandra Phillips
    Steve Sheffer
    Shiloh White-Ramirez  (New)
    Errol Wilson   (FOUND)

Everyone else @ Classmates.com is accounted for here @ THS 88 on the Web
Reunion.com got screwy when they changed their format…  No longer are free members allowed to see who in their class has registered so overall this site has become utterly useless…
THS 88’ers on Reunion.com not currently @ THS 88 on the Web
Sammy Berry
Kiesha Blue
Natessa "Tessie" now "Tess" Bookout-Willis
Scott Diel
Aundrae Gilbert
Christie Dugger-Mitchell
Carla McAlister-Smith
Kathy Morgan-Sihan
Andy Shaw
Mike Walter
These are the last I know from Reunion.com.  I have left messages in the "blog" entry area of the profiles for these individuals, but so far that has apparently not yielded any positive results…

I attempted to contact Sammy and Carla through extraordinary means — guessing possible e-mail addresses based on their employment profile but have not received any response.  Also attempted to contact Scott via a relay with his sister but have yet to receive a response from him.
Namesdatabase.com — all present and accounted for…

I have tried a couple of snail-mail invites, apparently to no avail…  Stephen Blevins and Paul Mark Ferrant.

So as you can see, I’ve pretty much reached the end of my reach, save another paying membership at Classmates or Reunion

Balls in your court THS 88 — it’s time for that strength in numbers to kick in…  You can use the Tell a Friend option here, forward a copy of a THS 88:  Brief, tell others the easy to remember TiogaHigh1988.com, send me their e-address for an invite, whatever, but let’s get everyone found…

How ’bout them…

 SAINTS

or as Legendary Chicago Cubs Broadcaster
Harry Caray used to say

Holy Cow !!!  HOLY COW !!!

or as they started to say back in our day…

Who DAT ???

Gonna beat our

  SAINTS

Who DAT ???

Not da

 ‘Boys…

 On NBC’s
 Sunday Night Football

WOW !!!  What a game…  42 – 17  SAINTS  over the Cowboys…

Great play calling and execution by Payton-Brees Inc…  This game could have been much worse…  The TD da ‘Boys got to reach  17 was a fluke on a 4th down play that went through the arms of a Saints defender going for the interception, when he should have gone for the knock down — instead it bounces into the arms of T.O.  Knock that ball down the final score is at least 42 – 10…

The Saints and their aggressive offense is exciting to watch…  Drew Brees 5 TD passes…  Reggie Bush taking a screen and turning it into a 62 yard TD…  Watch the highlights on SportsCenter and you will see — the SAINTS are for REAL !!!

Currently 2nd seed in the NFC…  The  San Diego Chargers  are still probably the best team in the league right now — LT is a Touchdown scoring Machine — much like he was at TCU…

But we end this blog with apologies to Jimmy Johnson  former Cowboys Coach with 2 Super Bowl rings…

 HOW ‘Bout Them

 SAINTS

It seems I erred…

just a little…  it was totally innocent and thought for the good of the site…  Sending thank you e-mails to people who post at THS 88 on the Web instead of posting a note in the comments…

The reasoning was simple — this site isn’t about Kev so I try to avoid having "Kev’s name all over the place"…  This noble as it was, indeed makes me as guilty as most of not using the site to its full potential…  Therefore, effective immediately, actually I started earlier today — other than contact of a personal nature, you will find my comment on your comment in the comments…  If I have need for more detailed information from you or wish to discuss something "off the record" I will use direct one-on-one e-mail…

So when you see a response posted as Kev you will know it is in regards to member posted comments.  When you see Kev, Editor, Creator, "Your Blogmaster", etc. it will be in my official capacity as master of this domain and will provide additional information for the blog, Lost member sightings, etc…

My posting a comment to your comment will be for the intended purpose to continue the discussion and provide an opportunity for others to join in…  That is what I had envisioned when I chose the blog format.

No apologies and there will be none in the future…  Just became aware of an error on my part and have corrected it…

As always…  Thanks for reading…

THS 88 Shout Out — on Year One

Patricia Prince Adams Clark leads off…

Kevin, THANKS, for all the effort and hard work you put into all that you’ve done in the past and strive to continue with keeping THS 88 graduates reunited and informed!!

It’s exciting to get reacquainted with friends in the past, and get to know them again; forevermore buddies, I hope.  Kyle Moore, e-mailed me; his reply was very nice and rememberable, ALSO, Jason Dukes.  I HOPE TO HEAR FROM MORE OLD FRIENDS OR CLASSMATES.

THOSE FRIENDS, AND FAMILY, I LOST THIS YEAR WERE TRULY SPECIAL PEOPLE AND WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN BUT SADLY MISSED!!

I actually rec’d an e-mail from Missy Duncan, I haven’t seen her in 10 yrs at our 10 yr. reunion picnic.  I remember meeting her husband and kids.  She sent me a Pict. Of a 6 pt. buck she killed, it looked like it’s her first deer ever killed, not for certain; but she had blood on her face.  I know that’s what they did to my son, Devin, his first deer ever killed (Dec.2004).  I HOPE those of you who written me, don’t mind me sharing this with everyone.

I APPRECIATE THE TIME AND CONSIDERATION YOU,  (KEVIN) & ANYONE ELSE WHO HAD A HAND IN THIS PAST YEARS INFO.  HAVE WITH THE WEBSITES.  IT WOULDN’T BEEN POSSIBLE TO GET THOSE E-MAILS; IF IT WASN’T FOR YOUR HARD WORK AND DEDICATION.  KEEP ON STRIVING TOWARD THE NEW YEAR.

EVERYONE TRY & SLOW DOWN AND BE GRATEFUL FOR EVERYONE IN YOUR LIFE OR EVER PASSED THROUGH IT.  I HOPE EVERYONE STAYS SAFE DURING PRE-CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS.

Congratulations on the 1 yr. Anniversary!

This message was submitted by Patricia Prince Adams Clark 12/02/06 for the entire THS 88 on the Web family.
