Put simply Friday night is the easiest part of this whole thrown together gathering — as the when and where has already been determined… Show up to the game and have a cell phone number or two that everyone can use to find who’s all there… Mine is 318-730-3259 (highlight that blank)(— don’t worry about running me out of minutes as I have more than enough anytime minutes (new month just started, almost 3000 in Roll-Over — I should have bought a pre-pay )
The tricky part is Saturday, working around the LSU game with air time up in the air so to speak (yes it’s a big game but I could take it or leave it)… Actually, after checking the SEC schedules for this day, Georgia vs. LSU is definitely the best game of the day, so we can probably figure 2:30 broadcast as College Football Today aka CBS’ pre-show begins @ 2… Figure in 4 hours for the game and we’re to 6:30, which is where the conflict lies with securing the restaurant seating on a Saturday night… So even if we accepted Derek’s offer of the game at his place, which allows for bringing the kiddos, we’d have a time problem with dropping the kids off at mom and dad’s etc…
For the most efficient use of time, I’m leaning toward having an earlier family time, say 11 or 12 at City Park and the Zoo — they have picnic areas and that will give the young one’s space to run around etc and a base of operations — essentially "bring your own eats and drinks" like planned before, but this put us all in the same location to see one another with families.. Then around 1 make a run through the zoo… This all works well if it doesn’t rain…
For night time festivities — Tunk’s seems to be the overwhelming choice, though I have been warned that it is a "start of the night hotspot" on Saturdays — so we’ll have to reserve space and make sure we fill it as not to disrupt their business, and allow for seating us together… I don’t know how long we’ll be there, or how early anyone likes to eat on the weekend or how late you want to take it — once we’re there we can stay as long was we continue to buy food and drinks… Any objections to 6 or 6:30 start time…
So far it we’ve got about 20 – 25 people total interested in this part so we’ll need some sort of head count to reserve space — this is still open to all who are in the area or will be in the area, just trying to get us seated at least mostly together…
Derek, thanks for your most generous offer to host the Tiger Game viewing, but time is not on our side since we have to deal with a restaurant…
OK the rough plan going into this weekend is as follows…
Friday Night Lights aka Football Game for all who can make it…
Saturday’s Family Gathering and Picnic @ City Park or Zoo Picnic area around 11 AM or 12 PM with Zoo walk around 1 PM.
Dinner @ Tunk’s 6 or 6:30 to who knows when…
That’s the plan as of this AM… Those who haven’t reply back to let me know if you’re interested in the Tunk’s portion of our program so I can call to make arrangements… The Picnic is free for all — only fees will be for the Zoo walk $3 for Adults $2 for kids…
Should have final plans set by Monday or Tuesday… You’ll know here @ THS 88 on the Web…
